This content is about the history of the computer manufacturer company COMPAQ,
Compaq Computer Corporation was an American personal pc company founded in 1982. Once the largest vendor of personal computing systems worldwide, Compaq existed as an independent corporation until 2002, anytime it merged with Hewlett-Packard.
The provider was formed by Fishing rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto former Tx Instruments senior managers. The name "COMPAQ" was made from "Compatibility and Quality", as at its formation Compaq produced most of the first IBM PC works computers.
Prior to its takeover the company was headquartered in northwest unincorporated Harris Local, Texas, United States.
Compaq was initially founded in February 1982 through Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto, three senior managers from semiconductor producer Texas Instruments. Each invested $1, 000 to form the company. Their first venture capital came from Ben Rosen and Sevin Rosen Finances. The original Compaq PC was first sketched out on a placemat through the founders while dining from a local Houston restaurant, Place of Pies.

Other key executives the reason for the company's meteoric growth with the late 80s and fast 90s were Ross The. Cooley, another former IBMer, who served for a few years as SVP of GM North america; Michael Swavely, who was the company's chief marketing officer with the early years, and eventually ran the North america organization, later passing with you that responsibility to Mr. Cooley, anytime Swavely retired. In the united states, Brendan A. "Mac" McLoughlin (another quite a while IBM executive) led the company's field sales organization after beginning the Western U. Verts. Area of Operations. Those gifted executives, along by using other key contributors, together with Kevin Ellington, Douglas Johns, Steven Flannigan, together with Gary Stimac, helped the provider with the IBM Corporation in all of personal computer sales styles, after many predicted that none could smart phone market the behemoth.
